My Living Room Refresh
Spring has made its grand entrance, and the arrival of this new season feels like a breath of fresh air, especially after almost two years of navigating the pandemic. Amid the extended lockdown in New Zealand and the delightful addition of my 5-month-old daughter to our family, a wave of inspiration has prompted me to give our home a long-overdue revamp.
Gallery walls now grace our space, complemented by a new outdoor floor rug and chic furniture additions. The sofa situation received a stylish update with the introduction of Ralph Lauren fabrics and fresh cushion covers. A personal highlight involves a trip to an Italian stone factory in Avondale, where I handpicked a slab of my beloved Calacatta marble, showcasing captivating blue, green, and hints of ox's blood grains. My obsession with this unique piece knows no bounds, although I must exercise caution as it awaits sealing to protect it from acidic food items.
Embracing a bold and creative spirit, I ventured into drawing directly on our dining room wall, inviting my kids to join the artistic endeavour. The philosophy? No need for paper when the wall itself becomes a canvas. If a mess is made, a simple coat of paint serves as a creative reset. For now, the overall vibe of our home mirrors my current mood—peaceful, cherished, and filled with hope.
